Accumulation -

There are two types: In-Line Accumulation occurs when products back up and become stationary on the conveyor chain as it continues to slide underneath them. Off-Line Accumulators hold the products off to the side, out of the main flow, until the line clears.

American standard chains are covered by ISO 606, ANSI B29.1 and DIN 8188. The pitch sizes covered by this standard are 1/4 to 3 inch pitch. American standard chains have a smaller pin diameter than their European standard equivalent. American standard chains are normally referred to under the ANSI standard numbering system, for example a 1/2 inch pitch duplex chain would be, ANSI 40-2. The ANSI numbering system works as follows:
- The first number is the pitch size in 1/8 inch, ie 4/8 = 1/2 inch pitch
- The second number refers to the chain being a roller chain, 0 = roller chain. A 5 replacing the 0 would indicate a bush chain
- The suffix, as with European standard chain, refers to the number of strands in the chain, that is 2 = duplex chain

Block Chain -

Block chain is composed of side plates where each plate straddles one end of a block and is connected to the block with a pin going through a hole at one end of the block. Centrifugal Discharge Elevator -

A centrifugal discharge elevator typically feeds the bucks from the in-feed chute in the boot section and conveys it to the top of the elevator and discharges the material centrifugally down the chute. To accomplish this, these elevators operate at a higher speed than Gravity discharge elevators, roughly 34 RPM at the head shaft. It is recommended when the material that is being conveyed is sized from a fine material, such as finish cement, up to material that is 2 inches in diameter such as rock or Cement clinker.

Chain Elongation -

When the chain articulates over the sprocket, the pin and bush rotate against each other, causing slight wear on the outside of the pin and inside of the bush. This is what leads to chain elongation. Measuring or tracking elongation can be an effective tool to help monitor chain wear. As chain elongation develops, the chain may creep up on the sprocket teeth until it starts jumping sprocket teeth and can no longer engage with the sprocket.

DIN -

DIN is standardization carried out by the German Institute for Standardization. DIN-ISO is the International standardization applied nationwide. Chains manufactured to American standard chains are covered by ISO606 and DIN 8187. These standards cover 3 versions: Simplex, Duplex and Triplex. The range of pitch sizes can vary between 4mm, (0.158 inch) to 114.3mm, (4.500 inch). They are characterized by a large pin diameter, especially for the larger pitch sizes. This results in better wear resistance due to the greater bearing area. The ISO standard has a simple form of part numbering, for example:
- 1/2 inch pitch duplex chain would be 08B-2.
- The first two digits are the pitch size in 1/16s of an inch, therefore 08 = 8/16 or 1/2 inch.
- The letter ""B"" indicates European Standard.
- The suffix 2 indicates the number of strands in the chain, in this case a duplex chain.
